Baby development

I am in a constant stage of development now.

My five senses - touch, smell, taste, hearing and sight - are now fully developed. The lanugo hair which has been a constant component of helping regulate my body temperature continues to diminish and disappear. The role of overseeing my body warmth will now be managed by my brain and the new fat cells. The bone marrow now controls the production of red blood cells previously administered by the liver.

The skeleton continues to harden and my lungs, brain and muscles continue to progress. At this time, a lot of babies would have assumed the position before delivery, whilst others continue to embrace their inner acrobat.

Mothers development

It is becoming increasingly difficult to get comfortable with your growing belly.

Your sleep is regularly interrupted and you have a constant need to pee. Some believe this is a normal and important process in the preparation of life with a baby. Infants tend to wake up at night hungry for food, so it is perhaps the body's way of getting used to waking up at night and coping with the new life that comes with the arrival of a child.

By the end of the third trimester, early pregnancy symptoms may return. Some women feel nauseous and get very tired. Others experience new problems, such as symphysis pubis dysfunction, which may resurface towards the end of the pregnancy cycle for some expectant mothers. Take things easy and try to relax when it feels heavy. Listen to your body and rest a lot!

Co-parent

Exertions of the pregnancy are now starting to take a toll on the mother.

It could be a combination of nausea, limited mobility, and mood swings. She may also have had a little trouble with sleep, which may make the days feel extra heavy and hard to get through. But this is where you come in. Help with the shopping, clean and help with everything physical so that your partner can begin saving her energy for the due date.
