Baby development

My taste buds on the tongue have evolved as well as my sense of touch and feel.

I am now curious and keen to test my new senses, swallowing the amniotic fluid as well as touching my body with my hands. My pigment and my pancreas are formed at this period. The pancreas produces hormones and insulin, which are needed to regulate my sugar intake.

My skin is still thin and translucent since the layers of fat needed to cover my skin are unable to catch up with my growth spurt. Over time that will change and result in me putting on weight and getting a fuller and thicker body. I am now adequately prepared to survive a premature birth even if that would involve some complications. So it is best if I remain in the belly for a while longer!
