Baby development
I’m the size of a blueberry! On the outside, it might still be hard to see me even with an ultrasound since I’m tucked deep inside my mother's pelvis.
However, with the use of vaginal ultrasound, the pregnancy might become a lot more visible. With it, one should be able to determine how far along mom is as well as see my heart beating.
For every day that goes by, I look more and more like a person. The tail that was visible during the early stages of the pregnancy is almost gone, whilst my body and head are slowly protruding forward. There are two dark spots on my head where my eyes will be. Whilst they can’t be seen yet, my eye color was determined at the moment of conception. Early formations of my nostrils and ears can be seen along with my arms and legs, which are a lot more visible. Small buds that will be fingers and toes have sprouted and I have begun pumping my blood.
When I speak of my (embryo) height, I refer to the length between the head and tail. I say tail because my legs are bent inwards and not yet visible, making it hard to get an accurate reading of my full length.
Mothers development
Does your belly feel bloated and swollen? Do you feel constipated?
That might be down to pregnancy hormones causing your intestines to work slower than normal. A way to lessen these effects is to eat meals that are high in fiber, drink a lot of water, as well as exercise a lot.
Your blood volume in the body is now increasing so that you can nourish the fetus. This can lead to you feeling a bit dizzy at certain times, such as when you have been on your feet for too long or suddenly arise from a seated position. You might also have an elevated pulse, largely due to your heart working overtime to pump the high volumes of blood all over your body. The nipples may become more pronounced with your areola also turning several shades darker. Your blood vessels may also have become more prominent.
If you’re having problems squeezing into your pants, that would be down to the intestines swelling up (especially if it’s your first pregnancy). After a few weeks, you should have no problems fitting into them again… at least for a little while.

You’ve probably noticed your partner feeling less energetic and that she needs to take a calmer approach.
Best laid plans and everything else will have to come secondary to the pregnancy with even the most basic task proving too challenging for your partner. This is where you come in. This is “your time to shine,” as even the most mundane tasks such as cooking and cleaning may feel superhuman for your worn-out partner.
With the pregnancy taking its toll on your partner, her mood may also take a downswing, which may also lead to feelings of uncertainty and hesitancy about the baby. It’s in moments like these that you need to remember the mantra…"It’s all completely normal!" Perhaps you could lighten the mood with small surprises your partner might appreciate to remind her she is doing fine and you love her as she is.
