Put tobacco (and alcohol) aside - they only have a negative effect on both fertility and pregnancy.

If you are planning to have children, it is recommended that your partner start taking folic acid supplements. Studies have shown that 400 micrograms of folic acid every day, until the twelfth week of pregnancy, reduces the risk of spina bifida in the baby.
