1. Cleaning the Stroller

Winter often leaves dirt and dust in all the corners of the stroller. A thorough cleaning will not only make the stroller fresher, but it will also extend its lifespan.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Fabric Parts: Remove and wash the seat covers according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If the covers are not removable, use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean them.
  • Frame and Wheels: Wipe down the frame with a damp cloth and a bit of soapy water. Clean the wheels carefully, removing mud and gravel – use a brush to get to hard-to-reach spots.
  • Harness and Handle: Wipe down the harness and handle with disinfecting wipes or a cloth with mild soap.

2. Lubricate and Adjust the Stroller

After cleaning, it’s a good idea to check that all parts are working properly.

  • Wheels and Suspension: If the wheels squeak or roll sluggishly, lubricate them with silicone or Teflon spray.
  • Brakes: Test the brakes to make sure they work properly and adjust them if needed.
  • Folding Mechanism: Ensure the stroller folds smoothly and that no parts are stuck.

3. Swap to Spring Accessories

As temperatures rise, it might be time to swap out some of your winter accessories.

  • Lighter Seat Padding: Replace the thick winter footmuff with a thinner seat pad or blanket.
  • Sun Protection: Attach a sunshade or UV protector to shield your baby from the spring sun.
  • Insect Netting: Spring brings more bugs – an insect net is perfect for keeping mosquitoes and small critters away.

4. Store Winter Accessories Properly

Wash and dry the winter footmuff before storing it. Store gloves, extra blankets, and other winter accessories in a box so they’re ready for next season.

5. Perform a Safety Check

Before heading out on your spring strolls, check that everything is in good condition:

  • Do the brakes work properly?
  • Is the harness intact and properly adjusted?
  • Are all screws and nuts tightened?
  • Is the stroller stable and comfortable for your baby?
