Men start producing sperm during puberty and new sperm are produced for the rest of their lives. The quality of the sperm can decrease as men get older, although this isn't always the case.
Women have eggs in their ovaries from birth. The beginning of ovulation is indicated when girls have their first period at the start of puberty. When ovulation starts, girls become fertile. The chance of having a baby decreases from the age of around thirty-five for women. After forty it is often difficult to become pregnant, although this varies from individual to individual.
