How to enjoy better sex during pregnancy

The first and perhaps most important step is to relax. Stress negatively affects both your body and your desire. Listen to yourself and communicate openly with your partner about what feels good and what doesn’t work right now.

Body changes can affect both your libido and intimacy. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t get frustrated—try to find new ways instead. Experiment with different positions, improvise, reassure each other, and explore alternatives such as oral sex or intimate massage. Many couples rediscover desire through creativity and openness.

Pelvic floor exercises for better sex

A surprisingly important key to better pregnancy sex is pelvic floor training. Doing daily Kegel exercises strengthens the muscles and can enhance pleasure during pregnancy and beyond.

It may feel boring or uncomfortable at first, but give it time. After about 12 weeks of regular training, many women notice a clear difference in sensation, control, and orgasms.

Why pelvic floor training matters

The pelvic floor muscles act like "orgasm muscles." When strong, they increase blood flow, sensitivity, and control—making sex more enjoyable for both you and your partner.

Pelvic floor exercises can also prevent common issues such as light bladder leakage, gas, or back pain during pregnancy. They also reduce the risk of prolapse later in life.

Benefits of pelvic floor exercises in pregnancy:

  • Prevents leakage and gas problems
  • Enhances pleasure and sensation during sex
  • Lowers the risk of prolapse
  • May relieve back pain during pregnancy
